Tokyo stocks close 0.82% higher

TOKYO shares ended up 0.82 per cent on Tuesday as Japan upgraded its view of the national economy while a weak dollar capped market gains.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed 120.47 points higher to 14,778.51, reversing a 0.70 per cent decline at the open, while the Topix index of all first-section shares was 0.51 per cent, or 6.19 points, higher at 1,222.72 in low-volume trading.
